Lancer Pre-Order Store

Created by Massif Press

Lancer is a mud-and-lasers RPG about mechs and the pilots who crew them, featuring deep narrative play, gritty tactical combat and broad mech and pilot customization. Into this roiling galaxy you take your role as a mech pilot — from cold-blooded mercenaries to honor-bound Baronic cuirassiers, hardscrabble Union regulars to professional Constellar Midnights, Far Field teams at the uncanny edge of known space to the ever-wandering Albatross. Operating with a wealth of licenses from one of the galaxy’s great powers, you and your friends play a tight-knit squad of pilots on campaign — comrades together in a galaxy of danger and hope. Will you fight for Union, working to rectify the crimes of previous administrations? Will you run contracts for a corpro-state, working to advance private interests while lining your pockets? Will you fight to liberate your people from all masters, human or otherwise? Or will you fight only for yourself? Lancer features a mix of military science fiction and mythic science fantasy. In the setting, conscript pilots mix ranks with flying aces, mercenary guns-for-hire brawl with secretive corpro-state agents, and relativistic paladins cross thermal lances with causality-breaking entities. In Lancer, there is promise in the potential, but the hard-won gains of humanity are under serious threat. From the internal: ruthless corpro-states, bitter anthrochauvinist reactionaries, and ponderous oligarchs, to the external: MONIST 1, or RA, an anoriginary being with unfathomable power and unknowable goals; the Aunic Ascendancy, the unbroken heirs of Old Humanity; and more. Having only begun the project of recovering from its own internal political revolutions, Union now scrambles to reassert its control over a galaxy that would fall to chaos otherwise. Who will you fight for, pilot?

Round 1, Round 2, and Locking In

Hi all, happy Tuesday,

Well, it's been a week since we've sent out our first round of surveys via BackerKit and opened up our pre-order store. In that week, we've been in contact with more than 2/3 of you, pilots! You all seem great :)

We'll be sending out a second round of survey prompts today, so if you haven't heard from us, keep an eye out! We'll be sending the BackerKit surveys to the email address associated with your Kickstarter account, so be sure to check that one - and check all yer tabs! Our survey might wind up in Updates, Social, Spam, or elsewhere.

Now, on to the next business: locking in orders. After sending out this next round of email reminders today, we'll be looking to lock our orders at the end of the month, on June 30th. This will put a charge on whichever card or account you used to fill out the BackerKit survey, finalizing your payment so you won't have to wait until August to know you're guaranteed your order.

Here's a quick breakdown of this stage of the campaign:

  • Today (June 11th): Send out second round of survey emails. If you haven't heard from us via BackerKit yet, keep an eye out now! (Also, if for whatever reason you STILL don't hear from us, DM us on Kickstarter, Twitter, or our Discord and we can manually search for your email).
  • Sunday, June 30th: Lock in current orders. If you haven't finalized your order by 6/30, don't worry, you'll still be able to! All this does is finalize orders for the people who have.
  • Onward: Lock in mailing addresses - this'll happen towards the end of the year, when we've printed our books and are ready to ship. If you're moving or mobile this year, don't worry! We won't finalize addresses until the end of the year, so you've got plenty of time.
  • Early 2020: Fulfill orders!

That's about it! Locking in orders finalizes payments, but doesn't close the door for people who haven't yet answered or might have any processing errors with their cards. Beyond that, our pre-order store will still be up through the end of August, and we'll finalize mailing addresses around December.

Alright, stay tuned for more comms before we lock in orders, pilots!

Our Pre-Order Store is Live!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Jun 06, 2019 at 06:51:09 PM

Hi all!

Good news today, our pre-order store is live! Check it out here. This will be up through August 2019, so if you missed out on ordering a physical copy, you've got time to get your order in before we head to print!

Also, keep an eye on your email inboxes, as our post-campaign surveys should be heading out today! We're partnering with BackerKit to manage our post-campaign life: responding to these surveys will let us know where to send physical copies, collect shipping, allow for order adjustments, and so on. They're also how those of you in the Digital Iconic and higher tiers will be able to let us know what name(s) you'd like included in the Core Book, Wallflower, and/or the stretch goal Field Guides, so don't delay on your answer!

In other news, we're hard at work revising the final text of the Core Book, revising the core text of Comp/Con, and working with our artists as they draft out their initial sketches. The world of Lancer is growing with each art piece that comes in, and we can't wait to show off what we've got. Keep an eye out on this update page (as well as on our Twitter feed) for previews, reveals, and news as production continues over the summer!

For people playing campaigns, looking to start campaigns, or with campaigns on hold, some news: the current version of Lancer is the final version of Lancer that will be publicly available until the final text. So suit up, grab the final pre-release version of Lancer on our itch.io for free, and go together with your comrades to keep the Golden Age alive.

Post-Campaign Fulfillment/ BackerKit Reminders
over 5 years ago – Tue, May 28, 2019 at 01:13:05 AM

Hi all!

Just wanted to reiterate our previous quick announcement on post-campaign pledges, pre-orders, adjustments, collecting shipping, etc.

To anyone who missed out on backing during the campaign, or had processing errors in the past couple weeks and still want a chance to back, do not worry! We'll be using BackerKit to manage Lancer's post-campaign life

We're (still!) in the lag period where Kickstarter is collecting pledges to transfer to our bank account -- the Memorial Day holiday in the States has delayed some processing; as soon as our Kickstarter funds process into our account, we'll be able to finalize our invoice(s) with BackerKit, go through the store review process, and launch our post-campaign pre-order store!

Via BackerKit (as soon as we launch, likely towards the end of this week) we'll be able to:

  • Collect shipping in order to fulfill your pledges.
  • Allow Day 1 PDF backers to upgrade to Day 1 physical books (in case you had the will, but not the funds on day 1!)
  • Allow all pledge levels to pre-order additional Premium PDF codes.
  • Allow all pledge levels to pre-order additional physical copies and bundle shipping.
  • Allow PDF and Omninet backers to upgrade their pledges to secure a physical copy of the Core Book.
  • Let backers at the Digital Iconic, Iconic, Glory, and CentComm tiers specify the names they'd like us to include in their respective books.
  • Let backers at the Glory and CentComm tiers specify who they'd like us to make dedications out to.
  • And more!

So stay tuned! We'll send out an email via Kickstarter once the store is up, post the announcement on our Twitter, and hop into the fan Discord to let folks know.

Our BackerKit storefront will be up through August, so there will be PLENTY of time to secure your hard copy of Lancer.

In the meantime, you may have caught the announcement that our latest playtest of Lancer has gone live - you can grab it for free here, on our itch.io. There are tons of great resources on our itch.io storefront - all for free - including hundreds of pages of preview materiel for our stretch goals, the latest version of our companion app Comp/Con, the Kickstarter Long Rim mechs, and lore and mechanics summaries if you want to pitch Lancer to your ttrpg group!

Alright, that's it for this update. Next time we

Lancer Pre-release v2 Officially Released
over 5 years ago – Mon, May 27, 2019 at 01:48:34 AM

Hey all!

We've released an update to the core game that is now available on our itch page and google drive. This is going to be the final version of the game for public testing before we get our layout and art-complete version out to all .pdf tier backers in .pdf form later this year and in physical print to those who backed at that level early in 2020, so now's the best time to check it out if you were thinking of starting a game.

See you on the battlefield.

BackerKit Post-Campaign Fulfillment
over 5 years ago – Thu, May 16, 2019 at 11:42:02 PM

Hi all!

Just wanted to broadcast a quick announcement on post-campaign pledges, pre-orders, adjustments, collecting shipping, etc.

As we noted in the previous update, we'll be using BackerKit to manage Lancer's post-campaign life. We're currently in the lag period where Kickstarter is collecting pledges; meantime, we've been building our BackerKit pre-order store. As soon as our Kickstarter funds clear, we'll finalize all necessary invoices with BackerKit and our store will go live! That should be in the next week and change - certainly before the end of the month. Keep an eye out for an email with this logo in it:

Though the sample image is black, it could be yellow or blue!

Using BackerKit, we'll be able to:

  • Collect shipping in order to fulfill your pledges.
  • Allow Day 1 PDF backers to upgrade to Day 1 physical books (in case you had the will, but not the funds on day 1!)
  • Allow all pledge levels to pre-order additional Premium PDF codes.

  • Let backers at the Glory and CentComm tiers specify who they'd like us to make dedications out to.
  • And more! The store is a live storefront until we close it down - we'll likely have more goods to add as our development and revision summer goes on!

So stay tuned! We'll send out an email via Kickstarter once the store is up, post the announcement on our Twitter, and hop into the fan Discord to let folks know.
